New
Superintendent Hired!
At
the regular December Board of Education meeting, a new Superintendent
was hired to fill the position vacated by the retirement of
Superintendent Randy Grigg on June 30, 2012.
Dr. Kyle VonSchnase will
officially take the reins on July 1 and is excited about the move to
Central A & M. Dr. VonSchnase received his doctorate from Capella
University and has served districts as a teacher as well as alternative
education in South Berwyn, Streamwood, and Elgin, and has served as
principal and superintendent in Lovington the past 3 ½ years. He
will assume leadership with ongoing curriculum mapping initiatives and
various other collaborative curriculum developments throughout the
district. He will be challenged with balancing a budget with dwindling
revenues from the State of Illinois, but is anxious to get here and get
started with the work ahead. Watch for ‘Meet and Greet’ get-togethers
that will be set up in the months ahead. Welcome, Dr. VonSchnase!

you know that you can make a tax-deductable gift to a Foundation to

acquire and distribute resources to Central A & M Community Unit

Bad
Weather
In
the event of blowing and drifting snow or other bad weather such as fog,
Central A & M school closing and related information will be broadcast
over the internet and the following radio and television stations. As
soon as a decision is made to depart from the usual schedule, the
closing or modified schedule will be posted as a scrolling message on
the school website (www.cam.k12.il.us).
This is the quickest way to
obtain closing information. The following radio and television
stations will then be notified. Please do not call school administrators
or other school personnel.
Log on to the school website or listen to or watch the following

It
may be that buses will need to run on
"Snow Routes," which means
that buses will not make turnarounds.
If students are in a location which usually requires that the bus
turn around and back track, students are asked to please meet the bus at
the nearest main road. If
snow routes are in effect, radio and TV personnel will be asked to
announce it, and it will be posted on the school website as well.
If no
mention is made of Central A & M, it may be assumed that school is open
and buses will run as usual. I know that a disruption in the schedule is
a major disruption for many parents, and we will do our best to make the
decision concerning scheduling as early as possible.
In
addition to logging on to our website at
www.cam.k12.il.us
for up-to-date school closing or schedule changes, WSOY is
offering a free Text Alert service for which you may sign up. The
TxtAlert is a free service offered by Neuhoff Media. You may sign up for
this service at
http://www.wsoyam.com
and then click on WSOY Texting. This will take you to the sign up page
where you can fill out the information and also click on the school of
your choice. Your information will be kept private.
When
WSOY is notified of a school closing or schedule change, the information
is logged into their system and the information is disseminated through
a text message to your phone. While the service is free, you should
check your cellular plan for any text message fees your provider may
charge and whether or not message/data rates are applicable. Please call
the district office at 226-4042 if you have any questions regarding this
service.
